BPH Real-World Data

By age 60, half of all men develop benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Qdata® can help provide a deeper understanding of BPH, accelerating breakthroughs in treatment and patient care.

Qdata BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia) is a robust real-world dataset of 1.2 million patients, providing critical insights into the natural history and management of BPH.

About Qdata BPH

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a condition in which the prostate is enlarged, which is common as men age. Prostate enlargement can cause bladder, urinary tract or kidney problems. Real-world EHR data can help identify unique patient characteristics and gain a clearer picture of their clinical journey.

As the real-world data (RWD) curation and analytics partner of the American Urological Association (AUA) Quality (AQUA)® Registry, Verana Health has exclusive access to valuable demographic and clinical information on patients with BPH. Qdata BPH empowers researchers to stratify patient populations, assess disease severity, and uncover key comorbidities, such as prostate cancer, enabling more precise and personalized approaches to care.

Qdata BPH by Verana Health is a research-ready, fit-for-purpose real-world data module that provides a more granular understanding of disease progression and patient outcomes for patients with BPH. Key patient outcomes, including PSA levels, International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS)*, and Gleason scores for those with both BPH and prostate cancer, are meticulously extracted from unstructured clinical notes and semi-structured EHR fields.

Key Variables in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia Research

Qdata BPH is a dataset that accurately identifies patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and provides insights on patient characteristics and outcomes. Verana Health provides curated variables extracted from EHR data to be utilized based on your research needs, including:

Gleason Score

Available for patients who also have prostate cancer. Curated from clinical notes based on biopsy samples and details the aggressiveness of cancer cells.

PSA Level

Curated from clinical notes and helps clinicians determine whether the cancer is high-risk.

IPSS*

International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) is an 8 question screening tool to screen, diagnose, track symptoms and suggest management of BPH.

Unstructured Data Enables Deeper Understanding

Artificial intelligence-powered techniques such as NLP can extract key terms and phrases from unstructured urology EHR clinical notes and semi-structured fields to identify key outcomes of patients with BPH. Using Qdata BPH, life sciences companies can better understand disease severity, progression and management for patients with BPH. This real-world dataset also identifies paints who have both BPH and prostate cancer to allow for a more in-depth view of this patient cohort.
