About Qdata Prostate Cancer

As one of the most common types of cancers found in men, prostate cancer occurs in the prostate gland and often has no symptoms during early stages. More advanced stages of this cancer can be easier to identify, as men will exhibit more symptoms and signs of the condition.

If caught early, treatment can be very successful; however, aggressive types of this cancer can become difficult to treat, especially if it extends beyond the prostate gland. That’s why, for successful treatment, it’s important to have real-world data to power prostate cancer research.

Verana Health is the data curation and analytics partner of American Urological Association (AUA) Quality (AQUA)® Registry. With prostate cancer real-world data, Verana Health curates the data to formulate Qdata Prostate Cancer, a research-ready, fit-for-purpose data module to provide insights, thereby informing research outcomes and developing better options for patient care.

Key Variables in Qdata Prostate Cancer Research

Curated variables are extracted from EHR data to be utilized based on your research needs.

Gleason Score

This is curated from clinical notes based on biopsy samples and describes how aggressive the cancer cells are. 100% of patients in Qdata Prostate Cancer have at least one Gleason score captured.

PSA Level

This is in the clinical notes and helps clinicians determine how high-risk the cancer is. Abnormal PSA levels can indicate a later stage of prostate cancer.

TNM Stage

The TNM (Tumor, Node, Metastasis) staging system is captured in the clinical notes and is used to inform risk stratification.

Castration Status

Also known as hormone-refractory prostate cancer, castration resistant prostate cancer refers to the development of prostate cancer that no longer responds to androgen deprivation therapy (ADT).

Medication

Certain types of medication can be used as treatment options. Prostate cancer real-world data is pivotal for identifying drug treatment options for each patient case.

Unstructured Data Enables Deeper Understanding

Verana Health applies clinician-informed algorithms to unstructured EHR data at scale to help extract key information on PSA levels, Gleason scores, castration status, and other key variables, which can then be analyzed across large populations in a reliable manner.

This can give life science companies unprecedented insights into the journey of patients with prostate cancer.
