Q: How would you explain your role?
A: As a manager of Quantitative Sciences, I manage a team of quantitative scientists and oversee the development of our ophthalmology Qdata® modules. These quality data modules are designed to confidently drive business insights and inform research outcomes.
Q: What attracted you to the Quantitative Sciences field?
A: With a background in epidemiology, I knew I wanted to work in a field that provided continuous learning and offered the opportunity to solve complex problems. I was also drawn to the interdisciplinary nature of the role, which includes working across various teams.
Q: What attracted you to Verana Health?
A: I was attracted to Verana Health’s mission to enable clinical decisions using real-world data.
Q: What inspires you to do this work?
A: The people I work with are the most inspiring part about Verana Health! Working alongside incredibly motivated, kind and intelligent team members makes my work more enjoyable.
Q: What is the most rewarding part of your job?
A: The most rewarding part of my job is witnessing my team develop and succeed when tasked with new projects.
Q: What advancements do you see in your field in the next 5 years?
A: Over the next 5 years, I foresee advancements in artificial intelligence having a profound impact on how we handle and interpret electronic health record (EHR) data. With much of the EHR information being unstructured (e.g., patient histories or free-text clinical notes), natural language processing is becoming an increasingly powerful tool to interpret and extract meaningful data elements to unlock relevant insights from real-world data.
In her free time, Helene enjoys traveling and cuddling up to goats (pictured on a goat farm in Tasmania) any chance she gets.
