Verana Health has a team of more than 30 quantitative scientists who work toward the goal of producing high-quality, data-driven insights that can help inform research and improve patient outcomes.

Q: How would you explain your role? 

A: As a quantitative scientist, I work on commercial research studies that leverage real-world data in the American Academy of Ophthalmology IRIS® Registry (Intelligent Research in Sight). My responsibilities span from the development of study designs and statistical analysis plans to implementation of analysis to support research objectives. 

Q: What attracted you to the quantitative sciences field? 

A: I was attracted to the quantitative sciences field because I was looking for a discipline that would allow me to combine my passion for biostatistics and epidemiology, and work on rigorous scientific research. 

Q: What attracted you to Verana Health? 

A: I was attracted to Verana Health’s strong commitment to improving patient care through cutting-edge research and its partnerships with leading medical associations. These unique partnerships provide us with the opportunity to accelerate research for patients in the real-world setting. 

Q: What inspires you to do this work? 

A: I am inspired by our commitment to conduct high-quality and impactful research to help clinical researchers better understand patient conditions and treatment options. It brings me great joy in knowing that our contributions can further advance patient care. 

Q: What is the most rewarding part of your job? 

A: The most rewarding part of my job is having access to de-identified real-world data, and being able to leverage the data to perform complex research studies. I also work with an amazing team that is incredibly supportive and passionate about improving patient care. 

Q: What advancements do you see in your field in the next 5 years? 

A: I am excited to see new advanced techniques that leverage machine learning and/or text analysis (natural language processing) to further advance clinical research using unstructured data in clinical notes or imaging data.
